ZENDAYA BIOGRAPHY
Zendaya is an American actress and singer. Zendaya gained popularity by starring as Michelle "MJ" Jones in the superhero action film Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and in the musical drama The Greatest Showman (2017).
CHILDHOOD AND YOUTH
Zendaya Marie Sturmer Coleman was born on 1 September 1996 in Oakland, California. She owes her interesting appearance to a mixture of bloodlines. Her father, Kazembe Ajamu (born Samuel David Coleman) is African American with Nigerian, Macedonian and Icelandic roots. Her mother's ancestors include Germans, Irish and Scots. According to the actress, her name means "thank you" in the Shona language spoken in South Africa.
The actress' mother, Claire Marie Sturmer, is the owner of Kizzmet Jewelry, which offers handmade jewellery. Zendai's father works as her manager and agent.
Zendaya got her love of theatre, stage and disguise from her mother. During her childhood years, the future Hollywood star spent a lot of time at California Shakespeare Theatre, where her mother worked as a general manager and teacher. In addition to her great acting talent, Zendaya is a good dancer. She performed with the dance group Future Shock Oakland for three years in junior high school, performing hip hop and Hawaiian hula dance.
Subsequently, Zendaya studied at Oakland School of the Arts where she first tried her hand as an actress. After completing the training program at the California Theatre, she went to the American Theatre Conservatory in San Francisco, which in its time studied Denzel Washington, Elizabeth Banks, Nicolas Cage, Winona Ryder and Brie Larson. Master-classes from the famous professors, however, have only helped her in her then already thriving career as an actress.
Recalling her childhood, Zendaya never fails to thank her parents - they did not try to surround her with castles in the air and were not afraid to talk about real problems, thanks to which the actress grew up a self-critical girl with a sober mind and a healthy self-esteem. Zendai's professional career started with her work as a model for local clothing shops. During those same years, she also danced in a TV commercial for a dance group called Sears, starring Selena Gomez.

In 2009, Zendaya first tried her hand in the movie industry, starring in a supporting role in the popular U.S. comedy series "Hang in there, Charlie! Interestingly, the role she originally applied for was eventually cast by young actress Bella Thorne, with whom Zendaya later bonded over her long friendship and professional relationship.
She got her first feature film experience in 2012, in the comedy "Spellbound Friends" directed by Daisy Meyer. Zendaya landed the role of a high school girl who, like her best friend (Bella Thorne), aspires to work with a fashion publication.
Zendaya in 2013-2015
In spring 2013, Zendaya took part in season 16 of the show Dancing with the Stars. Coleman was the youngest contestant on the project until her record was broken by 14-year-old Willow Shields (best known for her role as Primrose Everdeen in The Hunger Games). Zendai's partner was Ukrainian-American professional dancer Val (Valentin) Chmerkovskiy. The pair placed second on the project.
In 2014, Zendaya played the lead role of Zoe Stevens in the teen comedy Zapped. The Magic App" produced by Disney. The following year, the actress was lucky enough to get the lead role again, this time in the series "KC. Undercover", in which Zendaya appeared as a high school spy. The series has been renewed for 2 more seasons to capture the audience's imagination.
In 2015, Zendaya and her hairstyle were at the centre of a racial scandal. The girl showed up at the Oscars wearing a silk white dress with open shoulders and thick dreadlocks. On the Fashion Police show, its host Juliana Rancic said that Zendaya's hair looked like it "smelled like patchouli... Or marijuana." The racial slur "dreadlocks are a traditional hairstyle of African-Americans - they smell like weed - so African-Americans use marijuana" angered the girl: "It's a big and terribly offensive delusion <...> I wear dreadlocks as a symbol of beauty and strength, like a lion wears its mane." However, the TV presenter realised she had made a mistake and apologised, adding that she was describing an impression of the "bohemian look" Zendaya and did not mean to offend anyone.
In 2017, following the release of the superhero action film Spider-Man: Homecoming, Zendaya found international fame. In the film, the young actress played Michelle "MJ" Jones, a classmate of Peter Parker (Tom Holland).
Zendaya and Tom Holland
She was also credited with having an affair with Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man. Both are only laughing back, although they have appeared together on numerous occasions not only on red carpets but also in restaurants.
Zendaya is currently starring in another adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune and in the second season of the series Euphoria. Apparently, her career is on the upswing and the 23-year-old actress has quite a lot of promise in front of her. Well, let's see!
